In 2005 I was inspired to try painting after reading a book called “The Dot” by Peter H Reynolds which I had picked up in an art gallery in London. The book tells the story of Vashti, a girl who thinks she cannot draw and her teacher who empowers her to make a mark on her paper, from that single dot she is able to develop an exhibition.
Statements that inspired me included “Just make a dot and see how far it takes you.” and “… there’s a creative spirit in everyone and where there is a dot there is a way.
This was one of my first attempts, just like Vashti, I focused on the dot. The words which create the circumference of the dot are … homage to the dot … just make a dot and see how  far it takes you … everyone has a creative spirit.
