In this section I present a selection of my paintings - it was a challege to know how best to present this eclectic mix of works - as I tend to work in series I decided to group works accordingly.

Like William de Kooning … “i am an eclectic artist by chance, I can open almost any book of reproductions and find a painting I would be influenced by.” I was delighted to read de Kooning’s statement … it gave me consolation that even the great artists can be influenced by the works of others.

I have battled with the perceived tensions between realism, expressionism and abstraction, representation and non-representation and where to focus my painting. Overall my painting is a spontaneous approach to explore the possibilities before me - an engagement with physical and metaphorical elements. While my work is an eclectic mix, when I put my works together my style emerges. My love of texture is evident and compositions tend to be reduced, ‘eliminating the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak’ (Hans Hoffman). .
